May 23, 2006: NIBIB Grantee Awarded Gold Medal by International Society for Magentic Resonance in Medicine
Daniel K. Sodickson, M.D., Ph.D. was recently awarded a Gold Medal by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). The Gold Medal is the highest award given by the ISMRM and is awarded for major research contributions to the field of magnetic resonance within the scope of the Society’s purposes. Dr. Sodickson is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Laboratory for Biomedical Imaging Research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Sodickson’s research interests include rapid parallel MRI using arrays of radiofrequency detectors; non-invasive determination of tissue electrical properties through perturbations in array interactions; and the use of micro- or nano-scale structures to deliver externally applied radiofrequency energy.
ISMRM is an international, multidisciplinary group united by a common interest in the science, technology and application of magnetic resonance in medicine and related fields. It represents basic and clinical scientists developing new magnetic resonance techniques and applications, clinicians with a strong interest in magnetic resonance science and applications, and technologists seeking to improve their understanding of magnetic resonance.
